Discovering Who You Are
Your identity changes everything.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Discovering Who You Are category, you’re not alone.
Many people spend years asking questions like:
- Who am I, really?
- Why do I care so much what others think?
- Why do I constantly compare myself to others?
- Why do I feel like I have to prove my worth?
These questions point to something deeper than insecurity—they reveal that your identity may not yet be settled.
We All Build Our Identity on Something
Whether we realize it or not, we all look somewhere to answer the question, “Who am I?”
For many of us, that answer becomes tied to our performance, our relationships, our accomplishments, our appearance, or even our failures. When those things go well, we feel valuable. When they don’t, we question our worth.
The problem is that anything built on changing circumstances will always leave us feeling unstable.
God’s Answer Is Better
The good news of the Gospel is that God doesn’t simply ask you to become a better version of yourself.
He gives you a brand-new identity.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.”2 Corinthians 5:17
Because of Jesus, your identity is no longer defined by your past, your mistakes, or what others think of you. You have been given a new heart, a new life, and a new identity as a beloved son or daughter of God.
Your Worth Is Based on Birth, Not Performance
Our culture tells us our value comes from what we accomplish. God says your value comes from whose you are.
As His child, your worth doesn’t rise and fall with your successes or failures. It rests securely in His love.
When your identity becomes settled in Christ, you no longer have to strive to earn acceptance—you begin living from the acceptance you’ve already been given.
The journey isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about learning to live from who God says you already are.
A Few Questions to Consider
Take a moment to ask yourself:
- What have I been allowing to define me?
- Where do I look for my sense of worth?
- What would change if I truly believed what God says about me?
These questions aren’t meant to produce shame. They’re meant to invite freedom.
Your Journey Starts Here
At ReSouled, we’ve discovered that lasting transformation begins when people settle who they are in Christ. From that secure foundation, everything else begins to change—your relationships, your decisions, your emotional health, and your ability to experience the abundant life Jesus promised.
If you recognize yourself in this assessment, we’d love to walk alongside you.

Schedule a ConversationExperiencing the Father’s Love
The relationship you’ve always longed for begins with knowing Father’s heart.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Experiencing the Father’s Love category, it may be because your relationship with God has become more about knowing facts than experiencing His love.
Many people believe in God, yet still wonder:
- Does God really love me?
- Is He disappointed with me?
- Can I truly trust Him?
- Why does He sometimes feel distant?
These questions matter because the way you see God shapes the way you live.
If you believe God is hard to please, you’ll spend your life trying to earn His approval. If you believe He’s distant, you’ll stop bringing Him your hurts. If you believe He’s disappointed in you, shame will keep you from running to Him when you need Him most.
God Has Always Wanted You to Know Him
From the very beginning, God’s desire has never been simply that people would know about Him—it has been that they would know Him personally. Jesus said,
“This is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”John 17:3
Notice that eternal life isn’t described primarily as a destination. It’s described as a relationship. God’s greatest desire has always been to bring His children into a deep, personal relationship with Himself.
Jesus Came to Reveal the Father
If you’ve ever wondered what God is really like, look at Jesus. When one of His disciples asked, “Show us the Father,” Jesus responded, “Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.”
Jesus didn’t simply teach about the Father—He revealed Him. He welcomed those who felt rejected. He forgave those trapped in shame. He pursued those who had wandered away. He showed compassion instead of condemnation. Everything Jesus did reflected the heart of His Father. If you’ve ever imagined God as distant, angry, or impossible to please, Jesus invites you to see Him differently.
The Father’s Love Changes Everything
The more we know God’s character, the more our lives begin to change. Fear begins to give way to trust. Striving gives way to rest. Anxiety gives way to peace. Shame gives way to acceptance.
The Father isn’t asking you to earn His love. He already demonstrated it through Jesus. His invitation is simply to receive it and learn to live from it.
When Your Picture of God Is Distorted
Many of us unknowingly carry inaccurate beliefs about God. Our experiences with parents, authority figures, churches, or painful circumstances can shape the way we see Him. Without realizing it, we begin believing things like:
- God only loves me when I’m doing well.
- I have to earn His acceptance.
- He’s disappointed with me.
- He cares more about my performance than my heart.
These beliefs quietly shape the way we relate to Him. But they’re not the Father’s heart. God wants to replace distorted pictures of Him with the truth of who He really is—faithful, compassionate, patient, present, holy, and overflowing with steadfast love.
Questions to Reflect On
Take a few moments to ask yourself:
- When I picture God, what emotions immediately come to mind?
- Do I believe He delights in me or simply tolerates me?
- What experiences may have shaped my view of Him?
- What would change if I truly believed I was deeply loved by my Heavenly Father?
Sometimes healing begins simply by allowing God to reveal Himself as He truly is.
Your Journey Starts Here
At ReSouled, we’ve found that many struggles—including fear, anxiety, striving, shame, and insecurity—often have their roots in a distorted view of God. The beautiful news is that the Father isn’t hiding from you. He’s pursuing you. He wants you to know Him—not just with your mind, but with your heart. If this assessment resonated with you, we’d love to walk alongside you.

Schedule a ConversationLetting Go of Striving
You were never meant to earn what God has already given.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Letting Go of Striving category, you may feel like you’re constantly trying to prove yourself.
Maybe you work harder than everyone else. Maybe you feel guilty when you rest. Maybe you believe God is pleased with you only when you’re doing enough. Or perhaps no matter how much you accomplish, you still feel like it isn’t enough.
If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
Many of us spend our lives on what we call the performance treadmill—running faster and faster, hoping that if we just do a little more, we’ll finally feel accepted, valuable, or loved. The problem is that treadmills don’t take us anywhere. They only leave us exhausted.
The Lie That Keeps Us Running
At the heart of striving is a subtle but powerful belief: “My worth depends on what I do.”
We begin measuring ourselves by our accomplishments, our spiritual disciplines, our productivity, or other people’s approval. Even our relationship with God can begin to feel like a checklist.
If I pray enough… If I read my Bible enough… If I serve enough… Then maybe God will be pleased with me. The problem isn’t that these things are bad. They’re good gifts. The problem comes when we begin using them to earn what God has already freely given—His love, acceptance, and approval.
Grace Changes Everything
The gospel tells a completely different story. You are not accepted because of your performance. You are accepted because of Christ’s.
Jesus lived the life we could never live and accomplished what we never could. Through His death and resurrection, He offers us His righteousness as a gift—not as something we earn, but as something we receive by faith.
That means your relationship with God is no longer built on striving. It’s built on grace. When we truly believe this, our motivation begins to change. We no longer obey God to earn His love. We obey because we already have it.
From Performance to Rest
Jesus never invited weary people to try harder. He invited them to rest.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”Matthew 11:28
Rest doesn’t mean doing nothing. It means letting go of the pressure to prove yourself. It means trusting that your identity, your worth, and your acceptance are already secure in Christ.
Ironically, when we stop striving to earn God’s approval, we’re finally free to enjoy a genuine relationship with Him. What once felt like duty begins to become delight.
Signs You May Be Living on the Performance Treadmill
Ask yourself:
- Do I struggle to rest without feeling guilty?
- Do I believe my value comes from what I accomplish?
- Do I constantly feel like I should be doing more?
- Am I afraid of disappointing God or other people?
- Do I compare myself to others or measure my worth by my performance?
If you answered “yes” to several of these questions, you may have unknowingly been living from performance instead of grace. The good news is that you don’t have to stay there.

At ReSouled, we help people step off the performance treadmill and experience the freedom of living from God’s grace instead of striving for His approval.

Schedule a ConversationRenewing Your Thinking
Lasting change begins with changing what you believe.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Renewing Your Thinking category, you may feel stuck in patterns you can’t seem to break.
Maybe you’ve prayed about the same struggle for years. Maybe you’ve promised yourself, “This time will be different,” only to find yourself back in the same place. Maybe you’ve wondered, “If I know what’s true, why don’t I live like it’s true?”
The answer may not be a lack of effort—it may be a matter of what you truly believe.
Your Beliefs Shape Your Life
Scripture tells us,
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”Romans 12:2
Notice that transformation doesn’t begin with changing your behavior. It begins with changing your thinking.
Every one of us develops beliefs about God, ourselves, other people, and the world. Some of those beliefs are rooted in God’s truth. Others are formed through painful experiences, unhealthy relationships, fear, or lies we’ve unknowingly accepted as true. These false beliefs become strongholds that quietly shape how we think, feel, and respond to life.
Why We Keep Repeating the Same Patterns
Imagine wearing a pair of glasses with the wrong prescription. Everything you see is distorted, even though the world around you hasn’t changed.
The same thing happens with our beliefs. If you believe:
- “I’m not enough.”
- “God is disappointed with me.”
- “I have to be in control.”
- “I’ll never change.”
…those beliefs will influence your emotions, your choices, and your relationships.
Changing your behavior without changing those beliefs is like pulling weeds without removing the roots. The problem keeps coming back.
God Wants to Replace Lies with Truth
Renewing your mind isn’t pretending problems don’t exist. It’s allowing God to replace lies with His truth. This is a process—not a one-time event.
As the Holy Spirit reveals false beliefs, we have the opportunity to surrender them and choose to believe what God says instead. Over time, our thinking changes. As our thinking changes, our choices begin to change. Eventually, our lives begin to reflect the new identity we’ve had in Christ all along.
A Simple Place to Start
When you find yourself discouraged, anxious, angry, or stuck, ask yourself:
- What am I believing right now?
- Is this belief consistent with God’s Word?
- What does God say is true instead?
Sometimes the greatest breakthrough comes from identifying one lie and replacing it with one truth.
That’s how God begins transforming us—from the inside out.
Your Journey Starts Here
At ReSouled, renewing the mind is one of the foundational ways lasting transformation takes place. We help people identify the beliefs driving their emotions and behaviors, uncover the lies that have kept them stuck, and replace them with the truth of who God is and who He says they are.

Schedule a ConversationBreaking Free
Freedom is possible because Jesus has already won the victory.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Breaking Free category, you may feel like you’re caught in patterns you can’t seem to escape.
Maybe you’ve prayed about the same struggle over and over. Maybe you’ve wondered why certain fears, addictions, destructive habits, or thought patterns keep pulling you back. Or perhaps you’ve asked yourself, “Why does this still have such a hold on me?”
The good news is this: You were not created to live in bondage.
The Battle Is Real—But So Is Christ’s Victory
The Bible teaches that we have a real spiritual enemy whose desire is to deceive, accuse, tempt, and destroy. His greatest weapon isn’t his power—it’s his lies. When we believe those lies, they begin influencing the way we think, live, and relate to God.
But the story doesn’t end there.
Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy and set captives free. Through His death and resurrection, He defeated the power of sin and darkness. If you belong to Christ, you are no longer fighting for victory—you are living from His victory.
Bondage Usually Begins with a Lie
Many strongholds don’t begin with one dramatic moment. They begin with one small lie.
- “I’ll never change.”
- “This is just who I am.”
- “God could never forgive me.”
- “I’ll always struggle with this.”
When those lies are believed repeatedly, they can become patterns that shape our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. What begins as temptation can eventually feel like bondage. The encouraging news is that what was built on lies can be torn down by truth.
Freedom Is More Than Breaking a Habit
Jesus doesn’t simply want to remove destructive behaviors. He wants to heal the wounds, expose the lies, and restore the places where the enemy has gained influence.
Real freedom happens as we:
- Bring hidden struggles into the light.
- Confess and repent where needed.
- Renounce lies and receive God’s truth.
- Walk daily in the authority and identity we have in Christ.
Freedom isn’t just about leaving something behind. It’s about learning to live the abundant life Jesus came to give.
A Few Questions to Reflect On
Take a moment to ask yourself:
- Are there patterns in my life that seem stronger than my desire to change?
- What lies might be fueling those patterns?
- Is there an area I’ve kept hidden because of fear or shame?
- What would it look like to trust Jesus with that place today?
Remember, bringing something into the light isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s often the beginning of freedom.

Schedule a ConversationLearning to Trust God
Trust grows through knowing God personally.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Learning to Trust God category, you may believe God is real… yet still struggle to fully trust Him.
Maybe you find yourself trying to control every outcome. Maybe fear or anxiety keeps you from surrendering. Maybe you’ve experienced disappointment and quietly wonder if God will really come through for you.
If that’s where you are, you’re not alone. Many of us know about God long before we truly come to know Him.
Trust Begins with Knowing
Psalm 9:10 says,
“Those who know Your name will put their trust in You.”Psalm 9:10
Notice what comes first. Knowing.
We naturally trust people we’ve come to know through experience. The same is true with God.
You can read that God is faithful. You can believe that God is good. You can agree that He is loving. But trust grows when those truths become personal—when you begin experiencing His faithfulness in your own story.
Why Trust Can Feel So Difficult
Many of us carry a gap between what we believe about God and what we’ve experienced with Him. Perhaps you’ve prayed for healing that didn’t come. Maybe you’ve experienced loss, betrayal, or unanswered questions. Or maybe your picture of God has been shaped by people who weren’t trustworthy.
When life doesn’t make sense, it’s easy to begin questioning God’s character instead of trusting it. That struggle isn’t new. From the very beginning, the enemy’s strategy has been to cause us to doubt whether God is really good and whether He can truly be trusted.
God Invites You Into Relationship
God doesn’t simply want you to know facts about Him. He wants you to know Him personally.
As you spend time with Him through Scripture, prayer, quiet reflection, and the everyday moments of life, you begin recognizing His presence, hearing His voice, and seeing His faithfulness in ways that are uniquely personal to you.
Over time, those experiences begin changing the way you think. Your confidence grows. Your fears loosen their grip. Trust becomes less about trying harder and more about remembering who God has shown Himself to be.
Trust Is Built One Step at a Time
Jesus never asked His disciples to have perfect faith overnight. He invited them to follow Him. As they walked with Him, watched Him, listened to Him, and experienced Him, their trust deepened. God works the same way with us.
He faithfully reveals more of Himself over time. Every answered prayer, every moment of His peace, every reminder of His presence becomes another reason to trust Him with the next step.
A Few Questions to Reflect On
Take a moment to ask yourself:
- Where am I struggling to trust God today?
- Is there a gap between what I believe about God and what I’ve experienced with Him?
- How has God shown His faithfulness to me in the past?
- What is one area where He’s inviting me to take the next step of trust?
Trust doesn’t grow by having all the answers. It grows by walking with a God who has proven Himself faithful.

Schedule a ConversationFinding Lasting Life
The life you’ve been searching for isn’t something you achieve—it’s Someone you receive.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Finding Lasting Life category, you may feel like something is still missing.
Maybe you’ve achieved goals you once thought would satisfy you. Maybe you’ve invested everything into a relationship, career, ministry, or family, only to discover it didn’t fill the emptiness you expected it to. Or perhaps you’ve spent years asking yourself, “Why do I still feel empty?” The answer may be simpler than you think.
We Were Created for More
The Bible uses two different words for life.
One is bios—our physical life. It’s the life sustained by food, water, and air.
The other is zoe—the deep, abundant life we were created for. It’s the life that satisfies our deepest longings for love, acceptance, significance, security, and purpose.
From the very beginning, God designed us so that only He could fully satisfy that longing.
Looking for Life in All the Wrong Places
When Humanity chose to eat from the Tree, we in essence moved from a life dependent on God to a life of self-sufficiency. We didn’t stop longing for life. We simply started looking for it somewhere else.
We began believing that if we could just find the right relationship… the right career… the right ministry… the right accomplishment… the right amount of success… then we’d finally feel whole.
The problem isn’t that these things are bad. They’re gifts from God. But they make terrible gods.
When we expect created things to give us what only the Creator can provide, we’ll always come away empty. It’s like trying to fill a bucket with water when the bottom is full of holes. No matter how often we refill it, it never stays full.
Jesus Doesn’t Just Give Life—He Is Life
The good news is that Jesus didn’t simply come to improve our lives. He came to restore the life we lost. Jesus said,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”John 14:6
He didn’t say He would point us toward life. He said He is Life.
As we learn to receive our love, acceptance, significance, security, and purpose from Him, everything else begins to find its proper place.
Relationships become gifts instead of gods. Work becomes an opportunity instead of an identity. Success becomes something to steward instead of something to chase.
The more we find our life in Christ, the less pressure we place on everything else to satisfy us.
A Few Questions to Reflect On
Take a moment to ask yourself:
- Where am I looking for life right now?
- What do I believe I need in order to feel loved, valuable, or secure?
- Is there a relationship, achievement, or possession carrying a weight it was never meant to carry?
- What would it look like to receive those things from Christ instead?
Finding lasting life isn’t about trying harder. It’s about returning to the One who has been the source of life all along.

Schedule a ConversationHealing What Hurts
Your past may explain you, but it doesn’t have to define you.
If your ReSouled Assessment placed you in the Healing What Hurts category, there’s a good chance your past is still shaping your present.
Not because you’re weak. Not because you haven’t prayed enough. But because painful experiences have a way of leaving more than memories—they often leave conclusions.
Maybe someone rejected you, and you concluded, I’m not lovable. Maybe someone abandoned you, and you learned, People always leave. Maybe you grew up constantly criticized, and now nothing you do ever feels good enough. Maybe you’ve experienced betrayal, abuse, failure, or profound loss, and without realizing it, those experiences have become the lens through which you see yourself, other people, and even God.
The event is over. But the story you’re telling yourself about the event continues to shape your life.
God Doesn’t Want to Erase Your Past
Many people wish they could simply forget what happened. But God isn’t interested in deleting your memories. He’s interested in redeeming them.
Throughout Scripture we see God taking what others intended for evil and weaving it into something beautiful. Joseph said to the very brothers who sold him into slavery,
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.”Genesis 50:20
Notice what Joseph didn’t say. He didn’t pretend it wasn’t painful. He didn’t minimize the betrayal. He didn’t call evil good. Instead, he discovered that God’s purpose was greater than the evil done to him. The same God who redeemed Joseph’s story desires to redeem yours.
Your Past Influences You—But It Doesn’t Own You
Our experiences shape us, but they don’t have the final word. Because of Christ, you are not a hostage to what happened to you—or even to what you’ve done. You are a new creation: Forgiven. Loved. Accepted. Free.
That doesn’t mean painful memories instantly disappear. Often they resurface because God wants to heal what is still attached to them—not by numbing our emotions, but by renewing our minds with His truth.
God doesn’t merely comfort our wounds—He exposes the lies we’ve believed because of them and replaces them with truth.
- “I am unwanted” becomes… I am chosen.
- “I am rejected” becomes… I am fully accepted in Christ.
- “I’ll never be enough” becomes… Christ is enough, and my identity is secure in Him.
People don’t get to define who you are. God does. Healing doesn’t mean pretending the past never happened. It means seeing your past through God’s eyes instead of your pain.
