  • Thomas Paige

    FOUNDER

    Tom was involved in Biblical Counseling from 1976 until his death in 2024, beginning with Scope International Ministries, where he helped develop the model of biblical counseling used at ReSouled today. While at Scope, he served as a staff counselor and Director of Counseling at their headquarters in Oklahoma City. He later launched their center in Tulsa, Oklahoma and became Scope’s National and International Director, planting counseling centers around the U.S. and in England. He also served at Christian Life Ministries in Rapid City and as CEO of New Haven Ministries in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Tom began the work of ReSouled in 1998, when he launched the Center for Transformation and Training (CFTAT). His teachings and character remain the foundation for what ReSouled continues to do.

  • Michelle Livingston Thorstad

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    A native of Minnesota, Michelle grew up in a loving family, but often struggled feeling fully accepted by her peers. As the product of an inter-racial marriage, Michelle frequently felt misunderstood and discouraged to embrace her identity as a bi-racial individual. This fueled her desire to open a community center where people from all different races and backgrounds could belong, feel loved, and walk in their true identity. Ten years after graduating from the U of MN Carlson School of Management with a business degree, Michelle found her calling to help struggling youth and their families.

  • Our biblical counselors work under the category of “pastoral counseling” and not state-licensed counseling. We are not under the regulatory authority of any government agency. When using the term counselor, it does not refer to a psychiatric or psychological state licensed professional, legal, or clinical medical advice provider. Our advice is based on how to think rationally and clearly from a Christian biblical perspective.

  • Most insurance companies require that a counseling agency be licensed by the state in order to cover the cost of counseling. The short answer is that, most likely, insurance will not cover counseling with ReSouled. It’s still worth asking! You could also ask your insurance company about the possibility of using your FSA or HSA dollars towards ReSouled counseling services. Nevertheless, we are committed to making counseling affordable for anyone who needs it. We will work with you in any way we can to make it feasible for your needs.

  • Our counseling services are available for people ages 12 and up. We make sure that each person we work with is aligned with the best person on our team. When you go through our Intake process, we’ll make sure you connect with the right person.

  • The first $125 contributed as a pledge to a counselor goes toward the “service” of counseling. Any amount contributed over $125.00 per 1-hour session is considered a tax-deductible donation.

    (Example: If you pledge $150/session, $125 would go toward the service of counseling. The remaining $25 would be considered a tax-deductible donation)

  • All information is kept in strict confidence - with a few exceptions. For details, please read our Release of Liability & Confidentiality.

  • In addition to offering counseling services, we create spaces for connection and reflection through various avenues such as retreats, training seminars, discovery groups, spiritual direction, wellness partnerships, and other healing initiatives. We serve as a dependable ally for ministries, non-profits, individuals, and organizations alike, accompanying them on their journey towards a deeper relationship with God. Our aim is to guide individuals as they embrace the freedom, transformation, and vitality that come from a life enriched and shaped by God.

  • We aim to offer personalized, Spirit-led guidance and training to individuals and organizations in need. Our hope is to facilitate healing and restoration in lives and relationships by applying Biblical principles. We believe that true healing and behavioral transformation stem from a renewed mindset grounded in an accurate understanding of oneself and God. Rather than simply focusing on modifying behavior, we emphasize the transformative potential that comes with embracing a mindset aligned with the Kingdom values, leading to refreshing possibilities for growth and change (Romans 12:2).

  • When discussing counseling, particularly Biblical Counseling, there's a chance for misunderstanding and preconceived notions. At ReSouled, we offer Biblical counsel by applying the transformative principles of the Word of God to the challenges individuals face. It's important to note that we aren't "licensed counselors" nor do we claim to be. Our approach to Biblical Counseling focuses on guiding individuals to rely on God and His Word not only for their circumstances, but for their very existence and well-being

  • ReSouled is a pledge-based ministry, meaning we work with you to decide what you can contribute toward your counseling. We do not want finances to be the reason you do not seek biblical counseling. Pledging $125 per counseling hour helps us cover our expenses to run as a ministry, however, because not all clients can afford this amount we ask you to pledge an amount appropriate for you.

    *The cost of any assigned material such as books or CD’s will be in addition to your pledge and yours to keep.

  • Contributions may be made via cash, check, or online at the time of your counseling or invoiced monthly.
